I was just posting tunes in my Ion thread, and I thought of Doo a Diddy.........searched for it, and WHO KNEW...Its manfred mann........

1956, The Platters 'The Great Pretender', started a two run at No.1 on the US singles chart, a No. 5 in the UK.
1966, Beach Boy Brian Wilson recorded the future classic song 'Good Vibrations', which went on to become the band's third US number-one hit. As a child, his mother told him that dogs could pick up "vibrations" from people, so that the dog would bark at "bad vibrations" Wilson turned this into the general idea for the song.
1987, Bon Jovi were at No.1 on the US singles chart with 'Livin' On A Prayer', it made No.4 in the UK.
1947, Born on this day, Dennis Deyoung, vocals, keyboards, Styx who had the 1979 US No.1 & 1980 UK No.6 single 'Babe'.
1953, Born on this day, Robbie Bachman from Bachman Turner Overdrive who had the 1974 US No.1 & UK No.2 single 'You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet'.

As a solo artist Robinson scored the 1981 UK No.1 & US No.2 single 'Being With You'. He became the vice President of Motown Records in 1972. During the course of his 50-year career in music, Robinson has accumulated more than 4,000 songs to his credit.
1948, Born on this day, Toni Iommi, guitarist with Black Sabbath who had the 1970 UK No.4 single 'Paranoid'. The bands self-titled album was voted as the best British rock album ever by Kerrang! in 2005. At the age of 17 and on his last day of work in a sheet metal factory, he lost the tips of the middle and ring finger of his right hand. After attempting to learn to play right-handed, Iommi instead strung his guitars with lighter strings and made thimbles to extend his fingers.

1965, Gary Lewis and the Playboys started a two week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with 'This Diamond Ring.' Lewis is the son of actor Jerry Lewis.
1978, Abba were at No.1 on the UK singles chart with 'Take A Chance On Me', the group's seventh No.1 was also a top 3 hit in over 10 other countries.
1980, Bon Scott, singer from AC/DC was pronounced dead on arrival at a London hospital after a heavy night's drinking. Scott was found in the passenger seat of a friend's parked car. The official coroner's report stated that he had "drunk himself to death", after suffocating on his own vomit.
