Wow . sin city was that bad?tiny wrote:Well, I watched a few this week, so I'll give my suggestions as to the watchabilty factor, on these......
" Dracula, untold story."..........that was the best of the bunch, .....I'm not a "horror flick chick", but this wasnt really "horror"......a lot of war, swords, Vlad........how he BECAME evil, REAL evil, rather than just a nasty person, and I cant remember the damn name, but the newest Tom Cruise sci fi........where he keeps dying and coming back...OH.....": Edge of Tomorow"........it was ok, I enjoyed it, but wouldn't tell someone "go see it, it was great!!!" .......4 stars, I guess.........
Dracula, I'd give a 6 star rating out of 10
Lastly "sin City" A Dame to die for".........2 stars.........don't even waste your time.............

Re: The Screening Room
I have a nice little flu virus, so I'm lying in bed, and my son is torrenting me movie upon movie,
saw one I liked, and one I didnt.......
Most wanted Man.........I didnt care for, its the last movie P.S.Hoffman made before his demise......sadly, it was overly dramatic, way too long, and I even fell asleep watchng it.........not one I suggest........BUT
The Giver.........this was an awesome movie.....I barely blinked, loved the scenario, the actors, all of it......an 8 of 10 on that one, and I suggest it, as a good watch.......
as I get well, and watch movies, for lack of the energy to do anything else, I'll pop in, with my opinions.......

Yup......my son warned me, but I so liked the first Sin City, I figured he was just bias, or too young, but nope, the same characters, the same BS......and almost like rewatching the old one, with a few new, but useless characters thrown in........sorry......

Hey tiny, sorry you're under the weather.
The Giver was a book that, while I was working for a school district, was trying to get passed on the literature list. There was some controversy from some of the parents, so I took it upon myself to get a copy and read it. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I'd like to see the movie to see how well it adheres to the book.

Thanks Chrys...........I googled the book, but its not old enough to be the one I remember........or I'm too old to remember just when I read it.....
Anyway, last evening I watched "Sole survivor, too, while I laid around being a grouch.........THAT was good.......a bit more blood than I usually like, but its a war movie, seals/Taliban stuff, and Mark Wahlburg stars, its worth watching , say a 7 out of 10, as long as you can handle blood (which I usually cant)but this seemed, less tacky, somehow........
I;ll be watching more, if the football sux today, so.........later.......

Re: The Screening Room
OK, after football, I was to fuzzyheaded to do anything but movies, so, I watched a couple more.......
First was "Lucy"......it was odd, it was good, not GREAT, but, worth watching if your laid up, with nothing else to do.......
Divergent, was the second,.........the beginning reminde me of "The Giver" even tho Divergent was made first, and its a good flick, until the end.......heres another, I feel took an esy "teenage book" style ending, almost.......hurried, and a waste of a good first2/3 of a movie, so, if I had to rate it.......a 6 , at best.......at least it was better than Sin City.........

Re: The Screening Room
Well, my kid started his UPS job, so he torrented MANY movies for me, and two were REALLY good......
I loved "Guardians of the Galaxy" a marvel comics release, with just awesome alien creatures, good action, and humour thrown in to boot......
BEST movie I watched through my sick days....
Tjhen was Box Trolls.........another light, fun, good movie, not as good as Gaurdians, but totally enjoyed it, and kept my attention......
Of all the nmovies I watched , through this.....Guardians of the Galaxy, THE best, imo.......a 9.5, on my scale of 10.....
HAPPY THANKSGIVING L O T D ......

Merry Christmas!
This guy lives across town from me, and has been putting on the best Christmas light show in town for years on end.
He is a legend in our neck of the woods...

Re: The Screening Room
well, as I am relaxing, getting ready for my last Christmas with my son here, we are spending December, our last Christmas together, doing a lot of "together stuff"
He got me this movie, and I thought it would be "same old, same old"..I was happily surprised, this was a good, action packed movie;
A walk Amongst the Tombstones
Now.......as to my kid, yup, he's starting his life, moving to California, finally, to live with his gal, and get a job out there.....his God Mother is real near, to help, should he need any, and she was the CEO of Fujitsu , for many years, so she has strong connections for jobs in his field....I'm sad, but also happy.....hard to explain......I will most miss his 21 st Birthday, in Jan. ......
you never know.........maybe a wedding soon, instead?????
so, caio little man.....
( He and I will watch a lot of movies this last month, so, more to come... )

Zappa was a true artist and intellectual. Two qualities I RESPECT in humans.Chrys wrote:Zappa discusses music, marketing, and how music videos have compromised true artistry. I really enjoyed this, thought I'd share.
